Hi, Slaw here. Below are some thoughts on some things. These do not represent all of Vurbmoto. Just me. So, if you get big mad, please email Weege. Thanks! (Editor’s Note: Please email Weege regarding ALL Vurb complaints…thanks!)

Dungey on JLaw Rivalry

I’ve said this 100000000 times, but I will repeat it here: this sport need more rivalries. Rivalries enthrall fans. Makes them more passionate. More enthusiastic. More in tune with the day-to-day.

There have been many great rivalries in this sport, but one that I think is slept on, probably because it only lasted a year or so, was Ryan Dungey vs Jason Lawrence.

This had all the ingredients for a great rivalry. Both were at the top of the sport. Dungey was the All-American clean cut guy, while JLaw was punk rock and loved talking trash. Their 2008 250SX West Region Championship fight was one for the ages.

Dungey was recently on the Gypsy Tales podcast and talked about it.

“Going through that year was so hard, but going through that year shaped the rest of my racing career,” Dungey said in part.

How Much Does It Cost to Race a Pro Motocross Event?

I am not posting this to start the “why do riders have to pay?” debate. Nope, not going there. I just found this interesting.

Privateer Dayton Briggs posted an IG about how much it cost him to race Fox Raceway and I thought I would share:

FYI: All motorsports, for some reason, have entry fees for riders. Take F1 for example. Per Motorsport, “driver fees are not made public, but Motorsport.com has learned that for 2023 their points-based fee has been increased by nearly 30% from $1,623 to $2,100 per point scored.”

Yeah, that’s a lot more. Just saying…

Gavin Towers In Europe

Gavin Towers has landed a ride in Europe and made his debut at the MXGP of Germany and went 6-2 for fourth overall in EMX250. Not a bad result.

Yamaha documented the journey and debut in this pretty cool video:
