Loretta Lynn’s By The Numbers: Who Set the Fastest Lap in 250 Pro Sport, Who Led the Most Laps and More

While the 45th AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s has been wrapped up for more than a week, us stat nerds still have plenty to talk about. With the next AMA Amateur Major not until Mini O’s in November, over the next few months we’ll be breaking down cool stats from Loretta’s, looking at key storylines and riders heading into Mini O’s and so much more.

Last week, we looked at who led the most laps, who set the fastest lap time and more across ALL classes. But did you know within the Prospect app, you can break down all those cool statistics BY CLASS? Yep, from the PWs to the pros, it’s all in Prospect.

So, today, we are examining the 250 Pro Sport Class, as those are the riders poised to make the leap into the pro ranks sooner than later.

FASTEST LAP

When it came to pure speed, Ryder Malinoski set the benchmark in 250 Pro Sport. Malinoski ripped a 1:51.855 in Moto 1, narrowly edging Carson Wood’s 1:51.990 for the fastest lap of the week. Landon Gibson was the only other rider to break into the 1:52s with a 1:52.379, while Jesson Turner and Max Shane rounded out the top five.

LAPS LED

Landon Gibson may not have owned the outright fastest lap, but nobody spent more time at the front. Gibson led a class-high 13 laps, narrowly beating Carson Wood’s 12 and Ryder Malinoski’s 10. Those three accounted for the overwhelming majority of the laps led in 250 Pro Sport, with Jesson Turner next on the list with just two.

ON THE MOVE

Not every impressive ride happens at the front of the field. Prospect’s On the Move data tracks average passes, and Makai Olerich topped 250 Pro Sport with an impressive 13.3 passes per moto. Hollan Russell followed at 11.7, with Owen Covell averaging 11, Blake Lisby 10.7 and Riley Busse 9.7. It’s a completely different leaderboard than the outright speed numbers and a good reminder that some of the busiest riders at Loretta’s were putting together impressive charges that can easily get lost on a traditional results sheet.
