Kyle Chisholm Update Post San Francisco Crash

Fan favorite Kyle Chisholm had a scary moment during his heat race in San Francisco where he got out of control and smoked a wall. This led people to joke about how damaged is the wall as opposed to how damaged is Chiz.

The good news is that nothing is broken and Chiz will be on the gate for this weekend’s race in San Diego.

“I’m doing alright,” Chisholm said. “I’m pretty sore, but nothing was broken, just a bad bone bruise and contusion in my lower leg and ankle. I’ll be in San Diego to race, that’s the plan, probably not 100%, but good enough to race.”

The mud is the great equalizer. Those conditions on Saturday night didn’t discriminate when it came to the usually in control Chisholm.

“I was blinded from the mud and tried to grab the clutch to slow down, but my hand slipped and missed the lever,” Chisholm said. “I hit the gas at the same time because I didn’t want to stall the bike. I thought I was going to pull the clutch in and gas it, but I didn’t get the clutch, so I got whiskey. I couldn’t see anything and slid into that wall. It was all a blur because I couldn’t see!”

Recency bias aside, Chisholm has raced 11,011 mud races in his career. How did this one stack up against the muddiest ever?

“It was up there,” Chisholm said. “Kind of just like a typical mudder.”
