Justin Barcia DQ’d From Second Moto at Budds Creek

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull GasGas’ Justin Barcia was DQ’d from the second 450 moto at Budds Creek today (Saturday) for apparently aggressive contact with Dylan Ferrandis. We talked to some people at the track that confirmed the move was on Ferrandis and Steve Matthes, of PulpMX Hockey fame, also reported the same.

We did not see the incident and we haven’t seen any video, so we can’t comment on it at this time, but it must have been pretty bad to earn a DQ.

Ferrandis completed just six laps in the second moto.

We’ve reached out to some officials to see if they can provide more details but we haven’t heard back yet. We will update once we hear more.

AMA results from second moto.
Full results from Budds Creek.

Earlier this year, the AMA handed down a $3,000 fine and Barcia was docked three points for a overly aggressive pass on Jason Anderson at Indianapolis Supercross.

Later in the year, the AMA handed Barcia a ten point penalty and a fine (the amount was not disclosed) for his aggressive pass on Malcolm Stewart in the 450 main event in Salt Lake City.

There was also an incident with Justin Bogle in San Diego earlier this year.

  1. Ramming into another rider is not “aggressive passing “. Bar is needs to be suspended for an entire season along with fines.

  2. Like the hit Dungey gave James Stewart in Supercross, causing a concussion. Dungey made no attempt to turn at all. Straight up take-out.
    But the AMA liked Dungey…….

  3. Lew Carns-Not trying to argue, but have you ever reviewed the video frame by frame? Dungey was trying to chase him and anderson down, jumped to the inside, but the rear tired kicked up. James was further outside then Jason and cut down. Not offer excuses, but I would really offer up that it is worth looking at what happened.

  4. Barcia needs to be suspended for the remainder of the motocross season. He should be suspended for half of the super-cross series for 2023, because of the incident in SLC finals. Why does the Officiating Crew continue to tolerate his barbaric behavior?

  5. Race officials need to figure out how to leave their prejudices at the start gate. There’s no video of this, but it’s increasingly clear that they consistently play favorites (and grudges).

  6. Quit being pussys , ride hard , take outs whatever , be man at the end day if u don’t like what happens whoop ther ass done deal !

  7. If youdont lime the way he passes you.dont be a pussy abput it .Its the outdoor national.for Christ sake .riding motocross is a touch sport.Barcia rides like we rode in the 70s and 80s..I love it .more guys need to toughen up .
    Great race at budds creek..

  8. I agree 100%. Motocross is the toughest sport. If you don’t like the heat get your ass out of the kitchen. Plain and simple. Motocross with a no contact rule? Tuffin up guys

  9. @raymond mcabee @sean kelly. You dudes are delusional if you think skipping the track to tbone someone is racing. The heat should be “cant keep up anymore get the hell out of the kitchen and retire”. not try to force retire other riders because your mommy thinks youre special. Rubbing is racing. Riding like a little bitch isnt.
