What is going on with Jorge Prado

That seems to be the conversation most talked about throughout the pits through the first four rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship.

To say it has been a struggle for the multi-time World Champion would be an understatement. From reported bike issues, to lack of his signature starts, Prado just hasn’t seem to find the right formula in his first year in the U.S.

Coming off an injury, lack of prep, new tracks, new format, and on and on, can be difficult. Ask any rider that has come over from Europe and the FIM World Motocross Championship and they will tell you it takes time to adjust.

Say, Ken Roczen for example. After years in the MXGP series, Roczen came to the U.S. and had his share of struggles initially. So, who better than Ken to weigh in?

Well, Roczen was on the AC & JB Show this week and talked about the Prado situation.

“I am a little bit shocked, I guess, that he hasn’t been better,” he said. “Having said that, I don’t know, bike setup wise, might be an issue. I know, for me, the bike has to be right for me to go really, really fast or if it’s not, I’m just not that great. Having said that, it’s alway a little hard for me to wrap my head around that a factory team doesn’t have some base settings that are… they got to be, you know, in the ball park and rideable and then you manipulate it from there. Having said that, I have seen it also with my own eyes being with Honda to where like nothing really works. The window of the bike isn’t that big.

“This is not a bash on him by any means,” he continued. “I did expect him to be a little bit better and especially now that we are a few rounds in. I haven’t seen that progression of getting better bit by bit. I’m not sure what the actual problem is. You got to give him time. It wouldn’t surprise me if that by the end of the season he is all of a sudden a podium guy.”

Will Prado find his footing? Hard to imagine he won’t, but when will we see the World Champion in his best form?
