Jett Lawrence: “I had a few good beast mode attacks from [Tomac] and I had to do everything I could to fend him off”

The 2025 AMA Pro Motocross opener at Fox Raceway was one of the most anticipated in recent memory. The 450 Class was loaded with the return of the Lawrences, Eli Tomac, Jason Anderson, Chase Sexton and more. Add in the debut of MXGP Champion Jorge Prado, and we had all the ingredients for an epic opener.

Then Jett Lawrence, just months removed from a torn ACL, ran away from the field in the first moto.

But the second moto, we got what we’ve all been waiting for: Eli vs Jett. Precision vs Beast Mode. And it was all it was cracked up to be.

Eli attacked early, knowing he needed to test Jett. The youngster responded though and built up a small lead. Then Eli attacked again and again and again. But for every challenge, Jett was there. Calculated. Precise. Courage under fire.

In the end, Jett pulled away, but this, this was it. The veteran vs the new young star. Power vs precision. What we’ve all been waiting for… and it delivered.

“I had a few good beast mode attacks from [Tomac] and I had to do everything I could to fend him off,” said Jett post-race. “I knew I had a stronger section, so I made sure I nailed it every time. With about five laps to go I had to give it everything and I tried to use the lappers to my advantage. It was awesome to race against [Tomac] and feel that adrenaline again.”

“I was trying my heart out and it was close for about 25 minutes,” said Tomac. “We both had our strong spots on the track, so we were constantly trading momentum. It was definitely a pleasure to race against Jett. I’m really excited to get this series going. I felt strong and back to full health, and I’m ready to keep going.”

Thank you, boys. Now, we just need 20 more.
