Inside Ponca with Prospect: Joey Vicari Puts On A Clinic

If you’ve been paying attention to the MotoPlayground Race at Ponca City, Oklahoma, you already know Joey Vicari has been on one.

Championship day just put the exclamation point on it!

Vicari clinched championships in Mini SR 1, Mini SR 2 and Supermini 1, capping off an impressive week in Oklahoma. Let’s also give out some quick honorable mentions to Nolan Cobb, Evan Withham, and Jax Baker.

Back to Vicari… Three championships tell you the kid was ripping. But start looking at the numbers inside the Vurb Prospect App, and you realize there’s a whole lot more to the story.

Three Titles Was Just the Headline

Vicari’s name has been just about everywhere this week.

Wins? Check.

Laps led? Yep.

Points? Near the top.

Oh, and the fastest lap of the entire event belongs to him too.

On a Supermini.

Now we’re talking.

Wait… A Supermini Did What?

Out of all the Vicari numbers from Ponca, this might be my favorite.

Vicari dropped a 1:22.418 in Supermini 1 Moto 1.

That wasn’t just the fastest lap in his class. According to timing and scoring, it was the fastest lap of the entire event so far.

Not Fast Once, Fast A Lot

If you that his fast lap of 1:22.418 was just one magical lap where everything clicked. The rest of the Prospect data kills that theory pretty quickly.

Vicari was consistantly one of the fastest rider on the track in three different motos, putting him alongside McKayden Fitch and Evan Witham and just one behind Jax Baker and Waylon Gibbs.

Stacking Gate Drops, Collecting Points

Vicari also piled up 9,750 points, putting him second overall behind only McKayden Fitch at 10,805.

The dude might as well leave his helmet and goggles on, Four classes, a whole lot of gate drops and three championships to show for it.

Clean Air

Then there are the laps led. Vicari spent 26 laps out front at Ponca, second only to Fitch with 36.

You can rip a holeshot and steal a lap or two of clean air.You don’t accidentally collect 26 of them.

Don’t Have Prospect? You’re Missing Half the Story

Three championships would be enough to call Ponca a success. But Vicari didn’t just leave Oklahoma with hardware. He left his name all over the Prospect leaderboards.
