At Hangtown, Toyota of Redlands/BarX Suzuki Crew Chief Tyler Mickelson, who is also a long time friend of mine, (and at one point a Vurbmoto contributor WAY back in the early days) was struck by Matti Jorgensen and he’s in some bad shape. He still needs our help right now paying for some very unexpected medical bills.
Jorgensen over jumped an off camber hip jump and jumped off of the track right into Mickelson, who was walking in the mule/water truck lane. A completely freak accident, I mean think about all the different variables that had to happen precisely for these two paths to even cross when they did.
Mickelson had surgery and he’s been in 22 days of pain. He’s still got two broken bones, one on each leg, and a torn ACL. He said that he has numbness in his legs at night and that he can’t sleep in a bed quite yet. He has three more weeks of no walking ahead of him. He will find out on July 16 when he can actually try to walk again.
So for those keeping score his injuries are a torn meniscus and ACL, two broken fibula, tibia, broken knee cap, and soft tissue damage.
If you would like to donate to Mickelson’s GoFundMe, then click here. Every little bit helps and thank you in advance for your donation.
Matti Jorgensen was able to get up and walk off on his own as seen in the video.
