Over the weekend Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s Haiden Deegan had surgery to take out the hardware from his wrist.

This surgery is important because it puts some of the rumors to bed about Deegan and why some of his ‘haters’ believed that he was ditching out on representing Team USA at the Motocross of Nations.

He shared a couple more updates on his Instagram story as well. You have to scroll through the above post to actually get to a hospital photo.

It will be interesting to see how the Deegan camp plays out this recovery. It seems like three months will be plenty of time for a young person to be ready enough for Anaheim 1. However, we may see Deegan on the East Region once again in 2025. That series begins on February 8th, in Tampa, which would give him over four months to get his wrist strong.

Deegan’s hardware in his wrist was put in prior to the 2024 East Region Championship. Deegan broke his wrist before the season started, and although he tried to keep it quiet, rumors spread about the injury.

It wasn’t until a few rounds into the East Region Championship that Deegan started to address his prep before the season started and he eventually admitted to the actual injury.

When asked to represent Team USA by the AMA, Roger DeCoster, and team, Deegan turned down the offer due to this surgery that he would need in the offseason. This outraged many fans in the sport as evident by our comment sections on social media and this very website.

For some reason, some people didn’t think he needed the surgery now and it could have waited until after the MXoN, which is this coming weekend at Matterley Basin in the United Kingdom.

With all that said, which coast will we see Deegan on in 2025? Will he race the East Region for the third time? Or will he race the West Region for the very first time?
