Good Times Over Lap Times: The 500 East Course Preview at Lincoln Trail

Wes Williams sits down with returning 500 East champion — and Fastest Man in Piedmont™ — Randy Richardson, Kevin Kelly, who somehow survived announcing all 500 minutes of the 500 West, and producer Chase Stallo to watch laps from last year’s race and explain exactly what you’re getting yourself into.

Two moto tracks. Roughly six miles of trail. Some woods. Some switchbacks. A pit bike track. An “extreme enduro” section that may or may not have consisted of a parking block. And, most importantly, absolutely no requirement that you be good at any of it.

Along the way we discuss race strategy, turkey calling slower riders, getting your old race crew back together, how the defending champs somehow won without bringing a mechanic, whether Wes actually needs to train, and our commitment to not running out of Coors Light this year.

This isn’t endurance racing. It’s Fundurance. (Where Fun is mandatory, and ‘durance is optional)

Go fast. Go slow. Ride one lap. Ride a bunch. Hang out with your buddies. Talk shit in the pits. Then finish the thing, grab your finisher mug, fill it up (multiple times) and stick around for the party.

500 minutes of good times.

Been 'round these parts making dirtbike movies since '02; a weathered veteran with moto and camera related back issues, the hearing equivalent to my great-great grandfather's, and a dirt tan that will literally never come off. But I'm still in way better shape than every other dog in this joint, but that's because I use Chili and no slaw.
