Austin Forkner Provides Update on Internal Injuries Sustained in Salt Lake City

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner has released an update on what the team announced as “multiple abdominal injuries” in the crash he suffered at the beginning of the 250SX East/West Showdown at the Monster Energy Supercross season finale in Salt Lake City.

In a Instagram post, Forkner said he broke off a third of his pancreas and had to have his spleen removed.

“I basically damaged a bunch of my internals.. my liver, my kidney… basically damaged all of my insides and messed up my spleen really bad to the point they had to take part of my pancreas—the third of my pancreas—and my whole spleen completely out.

“This was by far the most painful thing I’ve experienced. It was brutal. It was definitely the toughest six or seven days I was in the hospital it was horrible.”

The team initially said Forkner would miss 6 to 8 weeks, but that seems a bit optimistic considering his injuries.
