Last year at the Indianapolis Supercross I was exiting the press conference and Jordon Smith came walking up to me. He said something like, “Hey, weren’t you just in the virtual press conference?” I was like, “Bro, I can’t be in two places at once, what are you talking about? I’m standing right in front of you right now.” He’s like, “Yeah, you know, that can’t be. It must have been Mitch Kendra. You guys look alike you could be twins.” Nate Thrasher even somewhat agreed.
So, long story short, Racer X’s Mitch Kendra and I (okay, maybe just me) are working on the correct paperwork to in fact become brothers. Most people would say that we are twins. Thanks for that Jordon, I’ve always wanted a brother, for real.
The point of this column today is to bring up the fact that we may have another set of twins on our hands here. Has anybody ever truly seen Smith and RJ Hampshire in the same room? I mean, other than the press conference or GEICO Honda team shoots back in the day? Those photoshoots are touched up and I know how photoshop works. These guys have so many similarities that it’s scary. Did you guys happen to see the stats that the broadcast put out around Anaheim 1? I mean look at these numbers.
This right here should be enough of an argument that they are the same guy. Not to mention that they both do kind of look alike. They raced together as amateurs and came up together on the GEICO Honda team. They almost share birthday months, Smith’s birthday is February 5, while RJ’s is January 26 (Happy Birthday Rick). They are both 28 (at the moment), they’re both around the same height and weight, they’re both fathers, both extremely fast, and both aren’t afraid to risk it for the biscuit on the track. These guys are cut from the same cloth and that is why they are meeting at the top of the leaderboard this year. As brothers.
I’m not actually sure if Jordon can actually throw some heaters on the mound like your boy RJ can, but since they are almost the same guy, I’d say it’s safe to assume. I know that Jordon is actually the best golfer out of all of the riders, so there is the similarity. RJ golfs as well (and every other rider in the sport). The point is, both of them excel in a different sport besides motocross. Coincidence? I think not.
The next time that you’re in the pits, do a double take on these guys. One might be the other one in disguise trying to play a trick on all of us. I can tell you one thing, they won’t be fooling ol’ T-Dog, the secret is out. I’m onto them.
My brother Mitch Dog is too.
