In a surprising announcement, Dylan Ferrandis announced on Tuesday that this Saturday’s SMX Finale will be the last of his professional career.
The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/Factory Ducati rider posted the following on social media:
“This weekend’s race will be my last one as professionnel racer then I will retire from the sport…I have been riding dirt bike since I’m 3 years old all around the world and this life has been exactly what I wanted! It’s been a great year with all the team @tldfactoryracing and we will try to finish on high note and enjoy these last moments of racing together.”
The French rider spent his early professional years racing in the FIM World Motocross Championship in Europe before moving to the U.S. with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing in 2017. In his first year in the U.S., Ferrandis won 250SX Rookie of the Year honors.
In his 250 career, Ferrandis won two 250SX titles, capturing the 250SX West Region in back-to-back years in 2019 and 2020. He also won the 250 Pro Motocross Championship in 2020.
In 2021, Ferrandis moved up to the 450 Class and won the Pro Motocross Championship as a rookie. He finished runner-up in the championship in 2023.
During his career, Ferrandis captured 15 wins (6 in 450 and 9 in 250) and leaves the sport with three titles and two Rookie of the Year honors (2017 and 2021).
He was part of the winning French team at the 2014 and 2018 Motocross of Nations.
