As we work toward the “official” start of Silly Season in the professional ranks, we already have one big move down in the amateur ranks. Longtime Yamaha BLU CRU rider, Tayce Morgan, is moving over to Team Green Kawasaki. The Utah native, currently residing in Florida, announced the move in a social media post last week.
Why is this a big deal and who is Tayce Morgan?
If you follow amateur motocross closely, Morgan needs little introduction. He’s won at Loretta Lynn’s, won major amateur events across the country and established himself as one of the top young prospects coming through the pipeline. But just how much has Morgan already accomplished in his amateur career?
Tayce’s Career at a Glance
Currently ranked 30th all-time in the Prospect National Rankings, Morgan was the breakout star of Loretta Lynn’s in 2025. He won both Mini Sr. 1 and Mini Sr. 2 titles with three moto wins, two runner up finishes and a third. In 2026, he made the move to Supermini 1 and 2 and finished 4th (SM1) and 8th (SM2) at the Ranch.
Prospect currently has 727 races logged for Morgan throughout his career. Of those, he’s recorded 607 top-10 finishes, 237 podiums and 136 overall victories. Do a little quick math and Morgan has finished inside the top 10 in more than 83 percent of the races currently documented on his Prospect profile. He’s landed on the podium roughly one-third of the time and has won nearly 19 percent of his races.
I’m no math expert, but those numbers stack up pretty well against anyone in the country.
Across Prospect’s available lap data, Morgan has completed 3,219 career laps and led 975 of them. That’s 30.3 percent. In other words, across the laps currently tracked by Prospect, Morgan has spent nearly one out of every three laps leading. Read that again: 975 laps led!!!!
Learning From the Best
Morgan currently trains at The Dog Pound, Jett and Hunter Lawrence‘s training facility in Florida, which means his day-to-day education includes watching two of the best riders in the world go to work. And that influence is already showing up well beyond the Dog Pound.
During an appearance on Radio Fox at Loretta Lynn’s this year, Morgan talked about how the “Jett style” has made its way into the amateur ranks. Watch any amateur race these days and it’s pretty easy to see what he’s talking about.
Now, as Morgan makes the move to Team Green Kawasaki, he’ll bring some of those lessons with him. And if the “Jett style” really is taking over amateur motocross, Morgan has a pretty good place to study it.
Morgan has already packed a lot into a career that is really just getting started. Three Loretta Lynn’s championships, 136 wins, nearly 1,000 recorded laps led and countless hours learning alongside some of the best riders on the planet. Now comes something new as he transitions to a new bike and new team heading into Mini O’s and the 2027 amateur season.
