Ricky Carmichael’s 100th career National win should have been a celebration. Instead, The GOAT used the moment to unload on the state of AMA Pro Motocross.
After battling James Stewart for more than 20 minutes at Budds Creek, Carmichael finally found a way around to secure the overall victory. But afterward, RC didn’t hold back on the track conditions, calling Budds Creek “the worst track of the year” and criticizing the lack of preparation, passing opportunities and continued loss of good dirt at the legendary facility.
His bigger concern went beyond one bad race. With Budds Creek preparing to host the Motocross of Nations, Carmichael said the conditions were embarrassing for the sport and pointed to tracks like this—and the direction of the outdoor series—as part of the reason top riders didn’t want to commit to the entire championship.
