We’re Just Getting Started – The Revival of World Mini

From the crew at Vurbmoto:

In 1971, the very first World Mini Grand Prix kicked off at Indian Dunes. It was the birth of something big—America’s first amateur motocross national. If you raced mini bikes, this was the one you circled on your calendar. It became a proving ground for the best riders in the country, and over time, nearly every pro you know came through it.

Then, like a lot of good things in moto, it went away.

In 2016, the checkered flag dropped on World Mini—until we brought it back.

We’re Vurbmoto. You probably know that by now. In 2022, we partnered with Grassroots MX and bought the rights to World Mini and started rebuilding from the ground up. No ego. No shortcuts. Just the same love for moto that got us into this sport in the first place.

This weekend at Mesquite MX, it’s happening again. The new era of World Mini is in motion.

We picked Mesquite for a reason—great town, unbeatable location, and the best race promoters in the business. We’ve made changes too: longer motos, more track time, better organization, and full integration with the Vurbmoto Prospect app to help riders track results, rankings, and event info in real time.

Is the event huge yet? No. And that’s exactly why we’re writing this.

The #1, #2, and #5 (Max Shane, Jett Rau and Beckham Smith, respectively) ranked amateur riders in the country (according to Prospect) are already here. So are legends like Ryan Villopoto, Daniel Blair, Greg Albertson, Kevin Kelly, and more. Word’s getting out.

But this isn’t about this year—it’s about five years from now. We’re building World Mini back into the biggest amateur race on the West Coast. More racing. More prestige. More support from the industry. We want it to matter again—for the kids just getting started, for the grinders chasing Loretta’s, and for everyone who thinks the West deserves something more.

So if you’re reading this and you’re not here—no sweat. Just know:

We’re just getting started.

Follow along on Prospect, feel the hype, and get ready. World Mini is back.
