The Return of BROtocross

“Because there’s nothing fun about motocross”.

That was the sarcastic tagline of BROtocross 1.0. Of course I loved motocross and dirt bikes in general. But back then, I wanted to be funny, sarcastic, and maybe just a little mean. It’s been nearly a decade since BRO 1.0 went dark. Lives have been lived, throttles twisted, quads nuked. Tony Alessi has another family now, for God’s sake. The early days of BRO were young and hard-nosed, as I was back then. As a 22-year-old who lived and breathed motocross, I wanted to give similarly-minded people something they could laugh at and relate to. I wanted to be the Barstool Sports of motocross.

This all feels like coming back home after a long journey. The return of the prodigal BRO. There’s been growth, change, a career. Hell, I’m a 30+ rider with a 401k now. But the passion for riding dirt bikes has not wavered one bit. Motocross is still what gets me up in the morning. It’s what the frogs call my “raison d’être”. Every single weekend I look forward to loading up my 450 and heading to the track. I’m not even that good, but riding a dirt bike makes me feel like a superhero. Especially at this point in life, with a cavalcade of stresses that I didn’t know as a 20-something, going to the track is what makes everything feel right. Throttle therapy is more valuable to me than just about anything. That’s what BROtocross is all about.

That was then, and this is now.

BROtocross is all about displaying the joys of riding. The sport these days is very pointed toward the intensity and excitement of professional racing, and for good reason. Pro racers are the gnarliest athletes on the planet, bar none. But to me, racing was always a fun thing. I knew I wasn’t destined for Supercross mains loooooong ago. I loved the competitive aspect of racing, but not to the degree that I’d ever let it become too stressful. It was, and still is, my release from stress.

The new iteration of BROtocross is about the fun aspects of riding and racing. Showing people who haven’t seen the sport beyond a Supercross broadcast and a few Deegan vlogs that there’s a whole world of dirt bike racing that they don’t know. One where everyone is friendly, and the trash talk is all in pure fun.

BROtocross 2.0 is the pick-up basketball of motocross. It’s the sand lot baseball of motocross. Buddies together at the track deciding to race without clutches and seats, or rolling dice to determine what gear they have to race in. It’s not about being the outright baddest dude on a dirt bike in these parts; chances are the guy or gal having the most fun is gonna come out on top.

Finally, there’s something fun about motocross.

Editors Note: BROtocross dropped his first video today where he races against 2024 ATV Pro WORCS National Champion Travis Damon in a best-of-3 head-to-head race format to determine who reigns supreme — dirt bikes or quads.
