Team USA Motocross of Nations Team Announcement Pushed Back

Team USA was expected to announce its team for the 2021 Motocross of Nations this weekend at round 9 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Budds Creek. Well, it appears that is no longer the case.

In Racerhead this week, Davey Coombs reported that the announcement has been pushed back to the 11th round of the championship at Fox Raceway at Pala 2 on September 4 due to the uncertainty “of these latest COVID-19 outbreaks and restrictions.”

Here is what DC reported in Racerhead…

The AMA was set to announce Team USA for the 2021 FIM Motocross of Nations this weekend at Budds Creek, but they have put a hold on the announcement due to the uncertainty of these latest COVID-19 outbreaks and restrictions. The plan now is to wait until Fox Raceway at Pala 2, which is September 4, because there is talk that the European Union will be announcing new developments on September 1 that could affect the race and the opportunity to travel.

As we’ve previously noted, with the Motocross of Nations taking place right in the middle of the FIM Motocross World Championship season, we’ve already seen many top MXGP riders decide to opt out of the event. In addition, Ken Roczen has stated he won’t attend, and the Star Racing Yamaha team won’t be sending any riders as they will move their headquarters from California to Florida directly after the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

It will be interesting to see what these new restrictions mean for the event and Team USA.
