Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, is proud to announce an extensive update to its industry-leading flagship Motocross model, the new 2026 YZ450F. Faced with the complex challenge of improving on a bike already widely considered the benchmark of the ultra-competitive 450cc four-stroke class, Yamaha engineers put significant focus into refining power delivery and handling performance to achieve a level of precision, control and tuneability that sets a new class standard: the easiest bike to ride fast. I can be a stat nerd. For years, we had to rely on Cycle News coming to our mailboxes once a week just to get results. Now, we have multiple Twitter and Instagram accounts that do DEEP, DEEP dives into everything from lap times to number of holeshots to times people wore a certain gear. It’s refreshing, as for most of this sports history, we have been way behind other forms of motorsports. Don’t even get me started how far behind we are if we were to relate it to stick and ball sports.
In addition to content accounts on social, promoters have upped their game as well, with FELD and MX Sports putting more insight into the interesting statistics that make up this beautiful sport.
With a new season approaching, I, an AMA Media Member of the Year Nominee, will dig into some stats in this here column.
