Report: Cole Davies Sustains Arm Injury in Scary Crash in Qualifying at Salt Lake City

In the first 250SX West Division qualifying session at the final round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Salt Lake City, UT, Monster Energy/Star Racing Yamaha’s Cole Davies and Triumph’s Jordon Smith were involved in a scary crash.

Davies, who was leading the qualifying session, made a mistake in a rhythm section and was rolling the track, when Smith, who was on a fast lap, landed on him. The qualifying session was red flagged as medics attended to both riders.

According to Racer X, “Davies was carried off in a sitting position and being carted off sitting upright.”

Per Race Day Live, Davies sustained an arm injury and is being transported to the local hospital.

Smith did not continue the session and rode off back to the pits, per Kris Keefer.

We will continue to update this story as we know more.

Update:

Per Jeremy Cooker, Triumph’s team manager, on Race Day Live, Smith sustained a “hematoma on his lower back and road rash” in the crash and will skip the second qualifying session. Cooker said Smith plans to race tonight.
