Welcome to the Vurb Practice Party, where you will probably find qualifying times at some point and random thoughts from Troy and Slaw and maybe DBO. Hang around, it could fun. Or not.
It seems as though it was 8,000 years since our last race in Glendale when Ken Roczen took the victory in the 450 class, becoming the fifth winner in six rounds. It seems even longer since Austin Forkner took the win at Detroit and avoided all the pandemonium behind him.
Here is a rundown of some of the biggest stories heading into the weekend:
- Ken Roczen won his first race of the season in Glendale in convincing fashion. He joined Jett Lawrence, Chase Sexton, Aaron Plessinger, and Cooper Webb as the fifth winner of the year in six rounds.
- Jett Lawrence holds the points lead by six points over Sexton and is the only two-time winner of the 450 class this season.
- Only 17 points separate the top seven in the 450SX standings.
- Adam Cianciarulo, Jeremy Martin, Jett Reynolds, and Enzo Lopes will be sitting Arlington out. Reynolds should will require surgery and he is out for the foreseeable future.
- Grant Harlan, Ryan Breece, Ty Masterpool will all be making their season debuts in the 450SX class in Arlington. This will be Masterpool’s 450SX debut in Monster Energy Supercross.
- Robbie Wageman, Carson Mumford, and Mitchell Oldenburg will be moving up to the 450SX class for Arlington. This will be Mumford and Wageman’s 450SX debuts.
- Austin Forkner holds the red plate in the 250SX East Region.
- Haiden Deegan, Pierce Brown, Cameron McAdoo, Seth Hammaker, Evan Ferry, Jalek Swoll, Nick Romano, Tom Vialle, and Gage Linville were all collected in the first turn pile up in Detroit.
- Coty Schock is the lone rider for the Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha team this weekend and he’s coming off of a career best fourth place in Detroit.
- Gizmo Mods/Rock River Yamaha’s Marshal Weltin finished a career best ninth place in Detroit.
- Ti Lube Honda’s rookie Trevor Colip finished 11th in his first SX in Detroit.
- Pierce Brown charged from about last to fifth place in Detroit.
- Jalek Swoll charged from about last to sixth in Detroit.
- Henry Miller finished seventh in Detroit, one position off of a career best.
- Aaron Plessinger would be lucky to have T-Dog carry his hat in the Lone Star State this weekend.
Arlington Race Schedule
Arlington marks the Military Appreciation night for the 2024 series and the teams are going all in to pay tribute.
Christian Craig has announced that he will be sitting out Arlington due to some elbow pain that has been getting worse throughout the season.
Harlan is back, but can he unlock his hips still?
Hawaii’s own, Grant Harlan, is so back this weekend. He’s been dealing with a hip injury since crashing at the MXoN and will make his debut this weekend. But my BIGGEST question is, can he still unlock his hips? – Slaw
Slaw’s Not Poll of the Day
Tomac’s gear today is straight heat
I’m not big on white gear, but Tomac’s gear today slaps. For the Military Appreciation round, Alpinestars dropped their limited edition “Dress Whites | Tropical” kit, which was inspired by the tropical Navy uniforms of years past. As you know, Eli’s brother serves in the military and this is an awesome kit. – Slaw
