We are back with another edition of Michelin Most Likely and this week we (I) look into the 450SX title chase, which is WIDE OPEN with two rounds to go. Ken Roczen is on a hot streak coming into Denver, as he now holds a four-point lead over Hunter Lawrence after his win at a rain soaked Philly Supercross last Saturday.

Let’s dig into the most pressing questions entering this weekend.

Is Denver a must-win for Hunter?

Must-win? No. Must beat Kenny? Yes.

Look at it this way. If Kenny were to win and Hunter finishes second this would put Kenny up by 7 entering the finale next weekend in Salt Lake City. Which 1) means Hunter would no longer control his own destiny and 2) might be too big of a hole to crawl out of. Hunter CANNOT lost points this weekend.

Who is most likely to get between these two?

If we are talking this weekend, Cooper Webb is the easy choice. Cooper is still technically alive in this title chase (albeit a very, very, very long shot) and if you know anything about Cooper Webb, he’s going to fight till his last breath. See Philly SX last weekend.

As for next weekend? I don’t think anyone. The 450 Class is loaded with veterans who will allow this thing to play out and don’t want to get in the way. Does that mean if say Eli Tomac is running second he is going to pull over? No, no it doesn’t. But if they know a championship contender is faster they aren’t going to make it hard on them either.

Who wins?

Man, I have been wrong on this so many times and I refuse to make another flaming hot prediction….

SIKE!

I’ll go Kenny… for now.
