Last week, Triumph announced that Mikkel Haarup will fill-in for the injured Jalek Swoll this summer when the AMA Pro Motocross Championship kicks off at Fox Raceway on May 24.
Haarup, who joined Triumph for its inaugural season in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship last year, hasn’t raced since last October when he competed in the Motocross of Nations with Denmark, so the team wanted to get the Dane some gate drops.
Well, it started last weekend at The Shoals, off-road legend Stew Baylor’s training facility, for the Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier.
Racing in three classes, Haarup only lost one moto over the weekend, taking the win in 250 Pro Sport, College 18-24 and Open Pro Sport.
A trip to the Ranch is waiting if he can get through Regionals…
250 Pro Sport Overall
1 Mikkel Haarup 1-1
2 Diesel Thomas 2-2
3 Collier Martinez 3-3
