Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Malcolm Stewart hopes to return for the second round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs this Saturday in St. Louis after withdrawing from the first round in Charlotte due to a back and leg injury.

Stewart, who entered the Playoffs third in 450 points, came up short on a jump during Friday’s practice session in Charlotte and “tweaked” his back and injured his leg.

“Not the way I wanted to kick off the SMX opener,” Stewart wrote on Instagram. “Hit a soft spot, came up short on a table, and tweaked my back and injured my leg. I tried to suit up and give it a go, but just didn’t have the strength to hold myself up. Time to rest up and reset for next weekend. Appreciate all the love and support.”

In a post-race press release, the team said the 32-year-old “is aiming to lineup” this weekend.

We will have more information on Stewart’s status later this week.
