Levi Kilbarger Made the Show After Eight Years Away From Supercross

The Vurbmoto World Mini event of the century is coming up on April 4-7 at Mesquite MX. Everyone in the world is invited. Back in the day, our crew never missed a World Mini event. It was a staple on the amateur national circuit and all of the top pros in the 450 class today cut their teeth racing at World Mini. It’s a prestigious event that you’ll need to race to become the next Eli Tomac. Click here to register now.

Want even better news? If you attend World Mini and buy merchandise at the Vurbmoto booth, you will receive 10X, yes 10X, the entries into the Vurbmoto Dreamstakes where you will be entered into a chance to win a Yamaha WOLVERINE RMAX2 1000 Sport, two (2) Yamaha TT-R110E motorcycles, AND $20,000 USD in cash! No purchase necessary. See official rules for details.

Supercross racing is just as easy as coming off of the couch. Especially if you’re above thirty, right?

RIGHT?

Well, for Ohio legend Levi Kilbarger, apparently it is. I mean I haven’t had the chance to speak with him yet, but I’m assuming that he’s had not much prep heading into the Indy SX. Yet, he went for it after his daughter called him out to do so.

Kilbarger hasn’t raced since High Point 2019 and his last Supercross result was in fact Indianapolis in 2016 where he finished 17th in the main event. That was EIGHT years ago! Do you know how much has happened in eight years? Well, Vurb went away, came back, Troy Dog got 700 more gray hairs, Ginger Dog squeaked out two children who are now three and five, and Kyle Chisholm was still only 56 years old.

We’ve seen an emergence of “old timers” show up and put it to the young dudes out here lately. Billy Laninovich is 40 and showed up to race the 250SX West Region for Team Faith. He sits 27th in points and has made two main events. Also, who could forget the legend Terren O’Dell who showed up to Thunder Valley last summer and made the motos in the 450 class. We here at Vurb are also old (Slaw Dog is REALLY old) and we respect all of these guys for still going out and doing this.

Kilbarger qualified out the C practice group with a 52.9 lap time. The most impressive part about this is that he was only three seconds off of fastest qualifier Max Anstie, who held the red plate just one week ago.

How? How does this happen?

Number one, how did he qualify that well? And number two, he didn’t even have to go to the LCQ, which had some big names in it like two-time Pro Motocross champion Jeremy Martin, Hardy Munoz, Preston Boespflug, Preston Kilroy, and more.

It’s a cool story that I hope inspires John Dowd to come out of retirement, or even Blake Wharton again, or even a guy like Jeff Gibson, or Michael Willard. Gibson and Willard are also Ohio guys who have the experience to make this happen. Gibson is a little older than Laninovich I believe, but hey a guy can dream.

Come on out and race old guys! WE here at Vurb will give you plenty of coverage.

Great job Levi, it was a very impressive showing and further cements your name into the Ohio Motocross Hall of Fame.
