Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati rider Justin Barcia took to social media on Monday and confirmed that he does have a specific timeline or date when he expects to return to racing.
“Just wanted to give everyone an update on my return to riding, as I’m seeing speculation from the moto media,” he wrote on X. “Suffering from two broken bones in my back and a concussion takes time. I can’t put a date on it yet. I’m doing everything right with Dr. G to return ASAP.”
Barcia was involved in a scary crash at the opening round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Anaheim 1 when he landed on Malcolm Stewart on the opening lap of the 450 main event and was slammed to the ground.
In the accident Barcia sustained two broken transverse processes in his back and a concussion, as he noted above.
Barcia was wearing the Alpinestars Tech-Air MX airbag in the crash and over the weekend the company released data noting the crash lasted 2.7 seconds and Barcia suffered an impact of 27.6 g, which is comparable to a high-speed car crash.
Malcolm Stewart sustained a dislocated shoulder in the crash but was able to return for round 2 in San Diego where he finished 10th overall.

Glad you are okay and getting better. I hope you will ride again. Good luck on the Ducati!
