Injury News: Justin Barcia to Return at Southwick

Justin Barcia is back! The Rockstar Energy GasGas Factory rider will make his return to racing this Saturday at round 5 of the Pro Motocross Championship at Southwick.

Sidelined since the East Rutherford round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Barcia was initially hoping to return for the series opener at Fox Raceway, but his return was delayed as he continued to recover from the injury.

Barcia, who grew up in New York, has had plenty of success at the iconic sand track, finishing on the podium four times in eight starts there. The most recent of these came in 2021 when he finished third overall behind Dylan Ferrandis and Ken Roczen.

Currently 15th in combined SuperMotocross League standings, which will determine his seeding for the three-round playoffs beginning in September, Barcia has a chance to secure his spot in the Playoffs this summer, as the top 20 in combined Supercross and Motocross points earn an automatic invitation to the playoffs.
