A bit of injury news as we head into the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season.
Christian Craig, who is back with Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing, is out for the opener. Per Racer X, Craig is hoping to return to action in Tampa after tearing his ACL and meniscus at the final round of SMX in Las Vegas.
The big one in the 250SX West Region is of course defending champion RJ Hampshire. He had to undergo an additional surgery on his wrist this off-season and as of today, we are unsure if he will race this weekend. The likelihood is he will race the 250SX East Region.
Although slated to ride the 250SX East Region, Triumph Racing’s Jalek Swoll suffered a torn Achilles, per Steve Matthes. If Swoll did sustain a torn Achilles, he will miss the entire Monster Energy Supercross season, at least.
Rockstar Energy/GasGas’ Casey Cochran sustained a leg injury in November that will push him to race the 250SX East Region.
Earlier this week, BarX Yamaha’s Derek Drake announced he is dealing with Lyme disease and will miss at least the “first part of the season.”
Team Solitaire/Heartbeat Hot Sauce Yamaha’s Robbie Wageman announced on Instagram in December that he sustained a fractured and dislocated wrist and will miss the start of the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross 250SX West Region.
