David Vuillemin is one of the greatest French riders in the history of AMA Supercross and Motocross. He finished runner-up twice in 250 (now 450) Supercross in 2000 and then again in 2002. He won multiple races and damn near won some titles.
DV, never afraid to call it like it is, is also, to me, one of the most underrated trainers in this sport. He helped Dylan Ferrandis to a Pro Motocross title during his rookie year and currently works with Marvin Musquin.
Well, according to a post on his Facebook page, DV almost worked with Austin Forkner this year but had to turn down the offer because he “was verbally engaged with Marvin and it’s super hard to do a good job splitting my schedule up into 2.”
Here is what DV had to say about the opportunity. Check out his full post here.
“A little word about Forkner… I almost worked with him this season Kawasaki contacted me and I even got to meet Mitch Payton, Dan (team manager Kawa US) and Bruce (competition boss at Kawa US). They wanted me to take care of it to bounce back before I went to 450. Spent half a day with him at the kawa grounds in October. It went well but for different reasons I decided to turn down the opportunity. Main reason is I was verbally engaged with Marvin and it’s super hard to do a good job splitting my schedule up into 2. And then I didn’t want to have a schedule or I didn’t have time for myself.”
This would have been a great combo!
