Cole Davies Provides Update Following Salt Lake City Supercross

Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies provided an update on his Instagram Saturday following a scary crash with Jordon Smith in the 250SX West Division qualifying at the final round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross on Saturday.

According to Davies, he sustained a broken arm and nose in the accident.

“Devastating way to end the supercross season but looking at the positives it’s been it’s been one hell of a rookie season stoked with how it’s went thankyou to everyone that has helped me and the whole Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team

“As of my condition right now I have a broken arm and a broken nose. Definitely could have been a lot worse grateful to come away somewhat okay, that was a very gnarly crash. Thankyou to the whole Alpinestars medical crew for taking good care of me. I have surgery tomorrow morning.

“I’ll be back better and stronger everyone”

The incident occurred when Davies, who was leading the qualifying session, made a mistake in a rhythm section and was rolling the track, when Smith, who was on a fast lap, landed on him. The qualifying session was red flagged as medics attended to both riders.

Smith sustained a “hematoma on his lower back and road rash” in the crash and did not return to racing.

The young New Zealander had a fantastic rookie SX season, collecting two race wins and finishing third in 250SX West points despite not racing on Saturday. He was awarded the AMA Rookie of the Year honors on Saturday.
