It has been a trying opening two rounds of Monster Energy AMA Supercross for the Liqui Moly Beta Racing team. After losing Benny Bloss on the opening lap of press day at the season opener in Anaheim due to a broken wrist, the teams second rider, Mitchell Oldenburg, crashed hard in qualifying at round 2 in San Diego, which resulted in the session being red flagged.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Oldenburg confirmed he sustained a concussion in the crash in addition to a broken radius and ulna in his left arm. He has already undergone surgery and said he is unsure of a timeline in recovery as of now.
“Sorry for the late update! Been down and out the last couple days,” he wrote. Most of you have probably saw the video during practice on Saturday, but I ended up with a concussion and a broken radius/ulna in my left arm. Ended up having surgery and we are officially on the road to recovery! Not sure what the timeline looks like at the moment, but I’m just thankful for everyone in my corner being so positive!”
Oldenburg finished 16th at the season opener and was coming off a 2025 season in which he finished 13th in the 450SX standings.
“I’m sure I’m not the only one in the sport who has a love/hate relationship with dirtbikes😂 I think my wife @the.alexandriarose said it best “it can always be worse, but damn it could always be better”😂☠️
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out! I’ve said this a lot the last couple years: Dirtbikes are a huge part of my life, but dirtbikes will not define who Mitchell Oldenburg is as a person.”
As of posting, it is unknown what the Liqui Moly Beta Racing team plans are moving forward with both riders out.
