Are We Judging World Supercross Too Harshly?

I’ve read my fair share of comments this week on how to “fix” the World Supercross Championship. To make matters worse, CEO of SX Global Adam Bailey, has been entertaining all of the ideas that he’s being presented by everyone. It’s nice for him to do that and shout out to him for entertaining all of these ways to get better. He knows he’s got some things to fix, but let’s not forget that Rome wasn’t built in a day either.

People are still giving Monster Energy Supercross and Pro Motocross a hard time and those have been established for half a century. My point is, we need to lay off of WSX and watch them grow. Why are we complaining so much about having more racing on the calendar year? The crew at SX Global just put on a race in Abu Dhabi of all places. I think that they deserve props for thinking outside of the box and trying something new. Their game plan is very unique and this can work.

Unfortunately, when WSX was announced two years ago now, the plans were different. The championship has undergone some unfortunate circumstances and they ended up selling to new investors in the process. Yet, Bailey and co. are still here and are doing their best to put on a good show for the world. When all of these factors are happening behind the scenes it has got to be difficult to trudge forward. SX Global is committed and transparent through all of this and for that I have a huge amount of respect.

I guarantee that your life changing statement being submitted is something that SX Global already is aware of. They understand what they need to do to be better and they will make those adjustments as they grow. The teams and the riders participating are definitely in contact with the promoters and that’s something we all need to keep in mind. The Australian round is coming up quickly and that will go off very smoothly. The people behind WSX have been in the race promoter game for a long time now and they know how to put on great events. Just give them some time to work out the kinks.

I understand that almost all things in life come with criticism. Sports are full of them and I get that. It’s a huge part of all mainstream sports. People just cannot help themselves when it comes to giving their opinion. I’m giving mine right now. Yet, let’s give WSX a mulligan for putting on a race where this sport has never gone before.

Let’s chill out on all of the comments and watch WSX grow. It’s awesome that we have more racing on the schedule. This championship series has the potential to be something truly great and it’s not going to happen overnight. I have hope that since SX Global is listening to literally everybody’s comments that the 2024 WSX Championship is going to prove to people that they are a force to be reckoned with. Supercross on a global scale can work and WSX is determined to find the right formula. I truly believe that it’s going to be a great home for riders on the circuit for many years to come.

  1. As long as they get rid of the clown that is Vince Friese they stand a chance. Him out there gooning around makes me not want to watch
