FIM World Supercross Cancels Remainder of 2026 Season

The 2026 FIM World Supercross season is over almost as quickly as it started.

After just one round in Calgary, the latest chapter in the series turbulent history has seemingly come to an end. The British GP was canceled in September as SX Global confirmed it was seeking significant new investment, while reports indicated the championship was also searching for new ownership. Now, with the remainder of the 2026 season apparently not moving forward, it becomes the latest setback in a long list of troubles that have followed the series since its inception.

And perhaps the strangest part of all? Congratulations to Cooper Webb, your apparent 2026 FIM World Supercross Champion!?!?

Webb won the rain-shortened opening round in Calgary and currently sits atop the official SX1 standings with 19 points. And judging by his Instagram, he seems more than willing to claim the hardware.

It’s a bizarre ending to a season that was originally announced as a six-round global championship—and another major question mark for a series that once again finds itself fighting for its future.

The full press release is below:

World Supercross has today announced, with regret, that the 2026 FIM World Supercross Championship season will conclude with immediate effect.

World Supercross remains in advanced discussions with potential investors regarding the future of the series. While those discussions continue, the decision has been taken to conclude the current season.

The decision has not been taken lightly. We continue to believe strongly in the series, its global potential and the opportunity to build on the foundations established to date. We remain optimistic that the ongoing discussions will reach a positive conclusion and provide a strong platform for the future of the championship.

World Supercross would like to thank its riders, teams, partners, venues, staff, fans and everyone who has supported the series throughout the 2026 season.

Further information regarding the future of World Supercross will be provided in due course.
