I 1000000% could be wrong on this, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a rider being penalized for grooming in front of their gate.
Until now that is…
Race direction announced following the 250SX East main event in Daytona on Saturday that it docked Triumph Factory Racing’s Jalek Swoll two race positions after being observed “grooming in front of the gate” by an AMA official at the gate and confirmed on replay.”
The penalty moved Swoll from 8th to 10th in the official results from round 2 of the championship.
Daytona marked the first main event completed for Swoll since the 2024 season after he crashed out of the East opener in Arlington. Swoll, who missed all of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship due to a torn Achilles, posted the following on his social about the race and penalty:
“Struggle bus all day trying to get comfortable, positive is first main since 2024 under the belt and yeah have some work to do but will get the setup and myself dialed I’m sure of that!!
“Now negative is I was docked from p8 to p10, stumbled a little trying to spin my rear on the way out for sight lap and got a penalty…. Kinda crazy considering non penalties last weekend but is what it is back to work.”
