Happy Fourth of July and happy RedBud!!!! We are back for another edition of Michelin Most Likely and this week we (I) examine Chase Sexton’s return, AC222’s visit and the rumored return to Tom Vialle to MXGP.
Is Sexton most likely to finish on the podium in his return?
Long pause…… no (ducks).
This is no slight on Chase, but I think the layoff will be too hard to overcome this weekend. Jett is nearly unbeatable, Hunter is catching fire, and Tomac and AP and Cooper have been riding amazing. So, while I think Sexton will eventually make his way back to podium/race win contention, it won’t be in his first race back.
Top 5 for Sex Dog in his return.
Is AC222 most likely to finish top 10?
The MXGP legend makes his return to the U.S. at RedBud, which also marks the debut of Ducati in Pro Motocross.
What Tony has on his side is, he’s been racing. It’s not like he’s coming off the couch. Just a few weeks back he finished 7th overall at the MXGP of Great Britain. Something in his favor this weekend.
My biggest question/concern is: how similar will his bike be to the one he rode in the UK and how much time has he had on it? Apparently his bike this weekend will be pretty stock. We’ll have to wait till Saturday to see, but that does not play in his favor.
Also, the last time he raced in the U.S., he did not race RedBud. And, as we’ve seen a lot in the past, getting used to a new track on a short Pro Motocross race day schedule is not easy.
Yet, he’s a nine-time World Champion for a reason and I have him making the top 10 overall this weekend.
In bocca al lupo, Tony, which Google told me that means good luck in Italian. If not, scialla, which Google told me means chill.
Is Tom Vialle’s rumored move back to MXGP most likely going to happen?
Yes, yes, yes. With Vialle being forced to move up to the 450 Class in Supercross, I love this move (if it happenes). No offense, but I didn’t like Vialle’s chance to dethrone Jett or Webb or Tomac or Sexton or Deegan (when he moves up) in SX anytime soon. So, why not return to Europe with arguably the best team in the pits and compete for titles year in and year out? This was a no brainer move to me.
Please go back to mxgp so you can replace Jeffrey Herlings when he is gone for good
