Chad Reed Qualifies For Loretta Lynn’s For the First Time Ever

Chad Reed is headed to the Ranch… maybe!

The two-time AMA Supercross and a one-time AMA Motocross 450cc champion has qualified for the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship for the first time in his career but may not attend.

Over the weekend, Reed raced the SE Regional at Lake Sugar Tree in Axton, VA, and sweep all his motos in Junior 25+ and Senior 40+ to earn his ticket to the Ranch.

Per his wife’s Instagram post, Reed probably won’t go unless his son Tate also makes it. Tate hasn’t qualified yet but has another chance this weekend, per Ellie’s Instagram.

Whether he goes or not, it doesn’t matter. This is an amazing story. Chad Reed doesn’t need to continue racing. He has accomplished everything in this sport. Yet, he does, because this is what we all love.

Check out this amazing story Ellie shared about why this means so much to Chad and the family.

He probably won’t go to the ranch if Tate doesn’t get in. “Because it’s about the kids now” .

But somewhere in that head, there’s a little boy who watched from the other side of the world – all the people going to Loretta’s Lynn’s amateur nationals. Just dreaming to be part of it and yesterday he just got his first tickets. ☺️

As a child he couldn’t afford to go, and it was a really long way from Australia especially in those times. It’s a massive commitment and expense for any family -let alone coming from Australia in the 90’s. Now being here as a moto parent and seeing it all from the amateur side, living it, makes me appreciate his work ethic, determination and his family’s commitment and support even more.

It’s pretty sweet to me that someone who has raced all over the world his whole life and achieved so much, is still able to ✅ off a first time on his list.

And it’s pretty cool to watch the kids admire their Dad racing now and actually understanding the level since they ride/ race too.

*This weekend Tate has another shot at a ticket. No matter the outcome, we show up to learn and gain experience. And every weekend we go we achieve that.
