Last year, when we all thought Phil Nicoletti was retiring and some of us (Pulp) held 14 parties in honor of his fantastic career, I wrote about how we were all going to be worse off not having Phil and his incredible race recaps in our lives.
You see, social media has now taken over the world and riders are able to provide us up-to-the-minute updates on how their race went. Most of us would have killed to have access to RJ or MC or Fro back in the day. We would be getting the goods.
In today’s world, we are usually relegated to daily grind sessions and post-race updates. No complaints. This is vital stuff. First-hand updates are the backbone of being informed—whether you are a sponsor or fan or a member of the media. We all need this info. I just wish we had some Lake Havasu updates mixed in. That’s all.
Where were we? Oh, yeah, Phil.
Turns out, Phil was NOT retired. Nope, not done. He signed up to race the Canadian Triple Crown Championship this summer for WLTN Kawasaki and the first round was held over the weekend, which means we get Phil’s amazing post-race recaps back in our lives.
Phil went 3-3 at the opener in Calgary for third overall behind Dylan Wright and Jess Pettis. Not a bad result at all. Well, according to his update, Phil got “that ass whooped!” Exclamation his, not ours.
“3-3 on the weekend. Got that ass whooped! Take it on the chin and move on. Fun to do some racing again. “
Round 2 is this weekend, so we will report back next week with another Phil update.
