PLAYOFFS! We have barely stopped talking about the Pro Motocross Championship and we are already gearing up for the SMX World Championship Playoffs.
Hunter Lawrence is coming off a Pro Motocross title. Supercross champion Ken Roczen is back in action. Haiden Deegan is making his 450 SMX debut. Jorge Prado is still in search for his first win indoors in the U.S. Eli Tomac is racing the final three rounds of his career and so, so much more.

As a 14-time AMA Media Member of the Year nominee, I am not eligible to make any of the picks you are about to see below. Hey, being an Capital J has its drawbacks. But–and believe me I double checked this (I am a 14x Media Member nominee for a reason)–I am ALLOWED to drop my superior knowledge on everyone.
In six SMX starts in his career, Hunter Lawrence has four podiums, two wins and has finished runner-up to his brother Jett the last two years in the championship. Jett is not racing this year, in case you haven’t heard. Coming off a dominate summer and a near miss in Supercross, it’s hard not to have Hunter for the title. And I’m going a step further this week and taking him as the event winner as well.
With his upcoming team/bike switch and an appearance in the Motocross of Nations, I don’t have a ton of faith in Cooper Webb winning the championship. But a top five overall? C’mon. Cooper Webb gets those in his sleep. He only has one podium in his SMX Playoffs career, but we aren’t even talking about that. Webb top 5 o/a is my Lock of the Week.
Loving Haiden Deegan for the moto 1 holeshot this week. Out to prove he can capture a title in 450SMX, his adrenaline is going to be through the roof this weekend, which will lead to a moto 1 holeshot.
I’ve has said many, many, many times Jorge Prado is a different Supercross rider this year. SMX, while not Supercross, is kind of Supercross. Not saying Prado will win the title–that belongs to Hunter–but I do like him for an overall podium at round 1.
