Watch: Amateur Open of Supercross at Arizona Cycle Park Full Main Event Replays

Supercross is a massive part of our sport and where so many young riders dream of one day lining up. Yet, when it comes to amateur racing, opportunities to compete on a true Supercross-style track are few and far between. That’s what makes the inaugural Amateur Open of Supercross at Arizona Cycle Park so exciting.

The facility, already home to the highly popular AZ Open, decided to take things a step further by introducing a dedicated amateur Supercross championship. And good on them for doing it.

For a sport where Supercross plays such an important role at the professional level, creating more opportunities for young riders to experience that style of racing is a step in the right direction. Not every amateur racer will pursue a professional career, but giving those who do a chance to develop their skills, gain experience, and compete in a different discipline can only help the sport grow.

Following the inaugural event, Arizona Cycle Park shared its excitement about what the team had accomplished:

“We set out to build something new. A championship event, a complete facility within a facility, and another level of racing to help move our sport into the future. Most importantly, we wanted to give riders and families another opportunity to chase their dreams.

After an incredible few days of amateur Supercross racing, we’re proud of what our team has built and excited for what’s ahead!”

The October 23–25 event featured classes ranging from 50cc to Pro Sport, with a purpose-built Supercross layout, qualifying, A and B main events, and AMA No. 1 plates on the line. Next up is the AZ Open of Motocross, returning December 3–6.
