Troy Dog’s Shack: I’m Infiltrating HEP Suzuki in Indy

I don’t think that I’ve missed an Indianapolis Supercross since 2005. My dad, Big Rick Dog, took me to my first Supercross in 2003 and maybe we skipped 2005 and possibly 2007 because of his job (former restaurant owner/retiree). We started out with just the two of us and then each year until 2009 our group would get bigger and I have some of my favorite memories from these moments. Once I met the Vurb crew I’ve been getting media credentials each year to cover my “hometown” race. We only live about an hour and a half from Lucas Oil Stadium. This year is no different. Mrs. and I are heading to the race tomorrow morning, and we’ve got some fun plans ahead of us.

Since I’ll be at the race, you know that I always try to plan some fun and different content that you normally don’t get to see. WE sponsored Kyle Chisholm when SX was on Covid lockdown and even I got through security to get him dialed in. Then of course last year at RedBud we did all sorts of fan interactions and ended up in the HEP pool at the end of the day. I even played basketball with Jett Lawrence for a bit. Well, this weekend I contacted my old friend Dustin Pipes to see if I could infiltrate his team and get a behind the scenes look for you. This is the same team that signed me to a lifetime deal, so you know that I have no rules when it comes to getting YOU the scoop.

I have a lot of great ideas planned and all next week there will be a HEP Suzuki takeover on this website. A piece of content from me just about everyday reporting on what I learned. I’ll be out and about in the pits filming a “Ride Along” for our YouTube channel, so look forward to that. I’ll also be live tweeting and giving you updates throughout the race day. I’m not going to stop until I’m fully decked out in the HEP Suzuki team clothing and watching film with the crew. I may even make Chiz a PB and J for lunch. The sky’s the limit.

It’ll be awesome to catch up with the riders and crew that I talk to over the phone so much, but never get the chance to in person. Despite the always cold weather conditions that happen in Indy when SX comes to town, I’m ready for whatever comes my way this weekend. It’s the first time that Ginger Dog and I have been out of our house since RedBud, so mom and dad here are desperate for some fun and Supercross brings everyone together.

Keep your eyes on @vurbmoto and @troydogvurb all weekend for my ELITE journalism. I’m expecting an AMA Media Member of the weekend award at least by the time it’s all over. If you’re in the pits and see me, definitely stop and say hey. It’s not often I get out to the races and I always enjoy talking with and meeting new people.

See y’all in Indianapolis!
