I think it’s pretty safe to say that we all miss Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin. The two-time outdoor champion has been forced to sit out basically the entire 2025 SuperMotocross Championship due to a thumb injury, but most importantly two very bad concussions.
J-Mart has had a rough road recovering from these two hits to his head and has taken time off to get healthy. We did an update on him in August after he raced the Leadville MTB 100.
He went on the PulpMX Show this week to update everyone on his condition and talk about what is next for him. He provided some details on his second concussion that were pretty eye opening.
“After Indy, it was my first day on outdoors, I went down really hard and I was out for five or six minutes,” Martin said. “I remember looking out the Club shop door and seeing John Wessling and he’s like ‘Dude, what the hell happened?’ I was like ‘I don’t know’.
Since then he’s been getting healthy and riding his mountain bike, working at Millville, and he recently raced a hare scramble!
As of right now, the ClubMX team and Martin are no longer working together, which means that Martin is currently a free agent if he ever wants to race motocross again. But, does he want to?
“I still have that dog in me,” Martin said. “If the right opportunity on the right bike came around, I’d have a hard time saying no to it.”
You can listen to his full interview from this past Monday’s show below:
ClubMX owner Brandon Haas was on the show as well and gave his two cents on the situation:
“He came back, started training, wanted to get back to the old Jeremy and started hammering on outdoors. At that time we had moved on from Supercross because of his thumb injury. He crashed on his first practice day back on the motocross track and knocked himself out again and that was the final straw. For us, it was like take time off and do what you need to do. For him, it was a matter of a week that he kind of knew his heart wasn;t in it anymore. Yeah, he didn’t want to race anymore. He came here said his goodbyes and farewell to the team and that was that. That was tough to swallow, we signed a three-year deal with him to be our franchise guy.”
In business, things never really end well and it appears that both parties have some indifferent feelings towards one another. For the ClubMX team, J-Mart was a huge investment for their team and for J-Mart he’s been through a lot of injuries the past few years.
Maybe we will get to see J-Mart come back and race again, but if he doesn’t he has nothing to be ashamed about. He’s a two-time 250MX Champion and he’s got plenty of wins and podiums under his belt.
C’mon Star Racing, sign this man for a third time…we know you have a 29th bike available….
