Hired Gun

We hand pick one rider for each class to represent Vurb as our Hired Gun. We bring in a ringer and we don’t like to lose. Recognized by the target on their back, our Hired Guns are brought in for one reason and one reason only: to WIN.

How to become a Hired Gun

• Don’t call us, we’ll call you.
• Our staff considers all Major event results prior to the Vurb Classic, social media presence, and geographic location.
• Loretta’s has, and always will, carry more weight. Our Hired Guns are chosen following Loretta’s and while we factor in other events, we look hard at overall moto scores from The Ranch.

King of the Classic

Heralded as the most coveted award at the Vurb Classic, The King of the Classic will always and forever be in memory of 2021 winner, Clayton Sain. RIP, Clayton!

The Rules

• Awarded to the best finishing average on the weekend.
• Must race at least two classes.
• Moto scores are added and then divided by the total number of motos. (Sorry for the advanced mathematics moto peeps.)
• Example: Let’s say you go 3-2-2 in Supermini, 1-1-1 in 85cc (12-15), and 1-2-1 in 85cc (11-14). That’s 14 total points divided by 9 motos, resulting in a 1.55 finishing average.
• Tie Breaker
  • First tie breaker will be based on who raced the most classes.
  • Second tie breaker will be based on who has the most moto wins.
  • Third tie breaker will be the total number of entries of all classes raced. Ultimately, whoever races against the most people breaks the tie.
  • We haven’t figured out a fourth tie breaker. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Queen of the Classic

New for 2022 we will be announcing a Queen of the Classic. This award will be given to the most standout Female athlete throughout the weekend. Similar to our Most Shocking Performance Award, this will be based on a vote from the Vurb staff. Our staff will be watching all weekend to find the most deserving female athlete to take home this coveted prize. 

Vurb Outstanding Performance Award

Six of these are up for grabs for each era of racer. Youth (85cc and under), Amateur (125cc and over) and the old dudes (age classes). See details below.

Amateur and Youth Power Award (for Hired Guns)
This award is reserved for the most outstanding Hired Guns. Based on overall race performance, the Hired Guns with the best overall performance will take home the gold.

One award will be up for grabs for both Youth (85cc and under) and Amateur (125cc and up) riders. It will be based on overall event scores, social media presence from the event, and, of course, style.

Amateur and Youth Performance Award (for Non-Hired Guns)
This award is reserved for those who don’t don the Hired Gun bib but do exactly what we didn’t plan on them doing, beat our Hired Guns!

This award is all about finding the next crop of superstars. From 2008-2016 the Classic has been a race for newcomers to break through and get noticed. That’s what this award is about: finding the racer and family that is ready for the next step but just needs the ever-so-slightest push with coverage to land the sponsors they need. Some of our most famous winners of this award are Justin Cooper and Seth Hammaker. Need we say more?

Race Tech Most Shocking Performance Award
How to win: Maybe it’s a single moto performance. Maybe it’s a multi-moto performance. Or hell, it could be someone in fifth place that is running right behind the lead group that just needs that bit of extra push, or suspension in this case. Our staff will be watching all weekend to find the most shocking and deserving racer to take this coveted prize home.

Our Race Tech Most Shocking Performance Award winner will receive a full Factory Setup from Race Tech, along with their Gold level support for any future sets they need done.

Fist Gloves Hotdog King Award
Fist Gloves was insane enough to sponsor our hot dog stand and we’re going to make them proud. This one is easy! Eat the most hot dogs at the Fist Gloves Hot Dog Eating Contest and you’ll be crowned the King. Watch out though, we will be bringing in our own Hired Bun for this one
