Shoutout to Justin Hill For One of the Most Interesting Racing Careers Ever

Team Tedder’s Justin Hill had his best race of the season Saturday night in Foxborough. He ended up finishing ninth, but for a while there he was in fifth, which was his first sign of life this season.

This is the same rider that finished third at the season finale in Salt Lake City just a little less than one year ago.

To be honest though, Hill’s career has been difficult to follow as of lately. How do you take three years off and come back and podium in your first full season back on the circuit?

After the 2020 Supercross season concluded, Hill went off of the map and became a sheriff. He sat out 2021, but then in late 2021, he signed on with the Partzilla/PRMX team. He would injure his shoulder soon after signing with the team and would not actually race in 2022.

The 2017 West Region Champion would resurface with Team Tedder for the 2023 season. During last season he finished eighth in the 450SX standings with nine top 10 finishes and that podium at the final round was truly underrated.

This season hasn’t gone Justin’s way, he’s actually been riding injured after getting accidentally landed on by Freddie Noren.

Foxborough was a step in the right direction. Like I said earlier, Hill was running in fifth for a good portion of the race and maintained the pace for his first top ten of the season.

It was cool to see him post this after the race on Instagram:

Hill has found the secret to success it appears. He’s doing what makes him happy in life. Sure, his talent is exceptional on a dirt bike, but he’s been one of the most underrated riders throughout his career. He’s chosen to race when he wants to and he’s chosen not to race when he doesn’t want to. You have to respect that part.

I personally like the part at the end of his post where he said that he’s “shooting for the stars” for the final four races. The man got a taste of running at the front again and now he wants more. In his April stretch last year he went 12-10-9-5 and this year he’s gone 9. Let’s see how well he can finish these last four rounds. He currently sits 17th in the standings.

He’s healthy, having fun, putting in fast qualifying times, which is a dangerous combination. With Hill, anything is possible.
