Thanks to the Vurbmoto Prospect app (now available on the App Store and Google Play) we brought in a formula. Slaw don’t math, so I had nothing to do with this formula, but it did spit out all this cool info and gave me the NO 1 amateur rider in the country prior to the World Mini Grand Prix April 17-20 at Mesquite MX.
Below are the rankings and the formula used to create said rankings. Ranking Updates: Points are calculated daily.
Ranking Classifications
- National Points:
- The National Points race runs annually from January through December.
- The National Points chase resets every year.
- Riders must create a profile and have an AMA number to participate.
- Additional details regarding point calculations are outlined below.
- Power Ranking:
- Power Ranking reflects a rider’s lifetime achievement by summing all points earned throughout their racing career.
- Power Ranking points are calculated separately in order to show the All Time scores of riders throughout history.

How Points Are Earned:
The system evaluates the following metrics:
- Event Size
- Event Multiplier
- Class Multiplier
- Event Size
- Small Events: Fewer than 22 riders in a class.
- Large Events: 22 or more riders in a class.

Not all races are created equal. Events are weighted as follows:

- Class Multiplier
The system adjusts for class size using the table below. This allows events outside of those on the Event Multiplier list the ability to become prioritized. For example, a local race that receives 1x points can receive more points based on how large each class size is, rewarding the promoter and the riders for hosting/racing larger events.

Example Scenario:
- Rider A vs. Rider B:
- Rider A competes in the Southwest AMA Area Qualifier with 20 riders in their class.
- Rider B competes in the Southeast AMA Area Qualifier with 40 riders in their class.
Using the weighted system:
- Rider A earns 149.5 points:
- 26 (Large Event Scale) × 5 (AMA AQ Weight) × 1.15 (Class Multiplier).
- Rider B earns 175.5 points:
- 26 (Large Event Scale) × 5 (AMA AQ Weight) × 1.35 (Class Multiplier).
