Power Rankings: Slaw’s First Rider Rankings of 2026

For 34 years GUTS Racing has prided themselves on being the innovators in seat technology. If you’re looking for a comfortable and stylish place to park your rear end on your dirt bike then look no further. GUTS carries an extensive product line of seat covers and foam no matter what you ride!

I teased this last week, and now the millions upon millions of readers of this column can finally breathe a sigh of relief. My January Rider Rankings are here.

A few things to keep in mind before emailing your complaints to Weege. 1) These are MY rankings, not yours. Feel free to email YOURS to [email protected]. 2) This is more about expectations than results. Of course I could just list the top 10 in points and walk away, but that is NOT what AMA Media Member of the Year nominees do and 3) My rankings combine 450 and 250. No other Power Rankings do that. Hope you are hearing this AMA!

Now, let’s get into it…

1 Eli Tomac

Tomac is on a mission this year. He’s laser focused on proving age is just a number. As he mentioned on the MotoXPod show this week, even at 33, he has no doubt he can still win a title: “I love that basically the whole gate is turning into 30 plus class. I love proving people wrong, that 33 is still like, you can still totally do it.” Don’t Tweet me Eli, but I don’t think anyone had him penciled in as the points leader after four rounds.

2 Haiden Deegan

I mean, he’s 19 points clear of second after four rounds and is showing no signs of slowing down. And, as usual, he’s giving everyone plenty to argue about on 9000 different social accounts.

3 Hunter Lawrence

True title contender. I’ve said this, but I’ll say it again for those in the back that don’t read every Slaw masterpiece: Hunter is slower to develop than most, which I think has greatly benefited his career, and we are starting to see his Pro Motocross, SMX Playoff speed come to Supercross. Maybe he’s the title favorite….

4 Ken Roczen

Just when you count Kenny out, he does Kenny stuff. This is a very Kenny like start to the championship. Remember, he held the red plate early in 2025! Can he continue this pace through the rest of the season? If so, watch out, as his experience will be key down the stretch.

5 Hunter Yoder

ClubMX Yamaha found a hidden gem in Yoder. Once a highly rated GEICO Honda prospect, Yoder’s start to his career got blown up when the team shut down. He bounced around before landing at ClubMX this year and has already proven to be one of the best off-season moves. And, he’s doing this on a torn ACL!!!!

6 Ryder DiFrancesco

We are finally starting to see the real Ryder D! Many thought it would come well before 2026, but as mentioned above, some riders develop slower than others. Calling it now: Ryder D is a title favorite heading into 2027!

7 Michael Mosiman

Retired and done with racing just a few years ago, Mosiman is enjoying a career renaissance and everyone is stoked on it. One of the nicest guys in the pits, Mosiman is showing you can return to the front even when everyone has counted you out.

8 Chase Sexton

Some good, some bad for Sex Dog on his new team. It will iron out, but so far this is the spot he deserves to be in.

9 Cooper Webb

Webb has been riding much better than his results show. He’s made some very un-Webb like mistakes but rebounded in Houston to save his title chances.

10 Max Vohland

Like Yoder, Vohland is shining in his role at ClubMX. Those boys are building something massive down in South Carolina.
