Official: Eli Tomac and Yamaha Parting Ways

The “thank you” part of Silly Season is fully underway. While some may scoff at these announcements, seeing as we are already well aware that said rider in the “thank you goodbye” is leaving the team, it is a nice thing to do. The things that upset people–such as simple things like this–still confuse me. Hey, to each their own.

Anyhow, we got another one today. Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing announced that Eli Tomac and the team are going their separate ways after four seasons together.

Following a successful run at Monster Energy Kawasaki, Tomac signed with Star Racing Yamaha ahead of the 2022 season. In his first season with the team, he’d win both the 450 Supercross and Pro Motocross titles.

Tomac was well on his way to a second 450 Supercross title with the team when he ruptured his achilles tendon while leading his hometown Denver Supercross in 2023.

While he made it back for the opening round of the 2024 Supercross season, he couldn’t find his stride after such a long injury and finished fourth in the championship.

He returned to the team in 2025 and began the Supercross season in good form before breaking his leg at Tampa Supercross. He returned for Pro Motocross and finished third overall and was selected to Team USA again, where he helped the US squad finish second at Ironman.

It is well-known that Tomac is headed to Red Bull KTM for 2026 in a move that will be announced next week.
