As a 2025 AMA Media Member of the Year nominee, I believe in transparency. We all make mistakes from time to time and when we do we need to be honest and open about such transgressions. So… hand up, I have waffled a LOT on who I think will win the FIM World Supercross Championship this year.
Prior to the season, when the Ken Roczen not racing the entire series rumors were swirling, I picked Jason Anderson for the title. Then, just last week, I picked Christian Craig, with the caveat that I could change after Sweden.
Now, with Ando making this a true winner-take-all scenario entering the season finale this weekend in South Africa, I may have to change my pick again.
The Players
Jason Anderson: 126pts
Joey Savatgy: 126pts
Christian Craig: 125pts
Ken Roczen: 122pts (NOT RACING)
If this were the WWE, Roczen would show up in South Africa, hit Ando with a chair and run away with the title. Since its not and Kenny is not racing, we have three riders separated by just one point with one round to go.
While the series has gotten its share of criticism in the past (most of it deserved) year two under the new ownership group has been a step in the right direction. While questions still remain about financial stability with the big money being thrown around for wild cards, having the championship be this tight between three top name riders with NO other racing going on, is a win (one of few they have enjoyed) for the series.

In his return to Suzuki through three rounds, Anderson was just “okay”. Not great, not bad. Then, last weekend in Sweden, we saw JA back on form, winning Sprint Race 2 and the main event. (He finished second in Sprint Race 1.)
Joey Savatgy, the ultimate bridesmaid in this championship (he’s finished runner-up twice in 2022 and 2023), was there with Anderson every step of the way last weekend, going 1-2-2 to stay tied atop the standings, with Craig just one point back.
So, am I, for the third time this season, changing my pick? YES I AM.
The way I see it, if I pick Savatgy, I would have picked all three riders at one point in time, meaning I win no matter what.
