THE BEST RACE OF THE YEAR IS THIS WEEKEND! IN THE USA!
If you don’t agree with the above statement, we can no longer talk. THIS is THE best race, hands down. I have already posted my Power Rankings on countries (aka who I think will win, etc), so I will not be addressing anything in that manner. Instead, I will be looking at individual classes…. that are loaded. So many champs and good riders going head-to-head this weekend. I, for one, CAN NOT WAIT!
Let’s get into it….
Who is most likely to win the MXGP class?
The contenders:
Jett Lawrence (Australia)
Eli Tomac (USA)
Glenn Coldenhoff (The Netherlands)
Ruben Fernandez (Spain)
Romain Febvre (France)
Ken Roczen (Germany)
Tim Gajser (Slovenia)
Antonio Cairoli (Italy)
Jeremy Seewer (Switzerland)
Lucas Coenen (Belgium)
Ok, this class is absolutely loaded! Pro Motocross Champions. World Champions. Just dudes upon dudes upon dudes. While most have Jett as the betting favorite, remember, the Motocross of Nations is built different. Riders thrive on this race. They step their game up. Just look at last year. Gajser had NO REASON to go so hard on the final lap to catch Jett. Yet, he did. This is what this race means.
And, yet, I have Jett winning.
Who is most likely to win the MX2 class?
The contenders:
Kyle Webster (Australia)
Justin Cooper (USA)
Kay de Wolf (The Netherlands)
Guillem Farres (Spain)
Mathis Valin (France)
Simon Langenfelder (Germany)
Andrea Adamo (Italy)
Mikkel Haarup (Denmark)
Sacha Coenen (Belgium)
Camden McLellan (South Africa)
Ok, this class is absolutely loaded! Imagine if WE had this every weekend? My goodness, there wouldn’t be enough factory rides to go around. This class is different, as they will be racing 250s against the 450s in both races. But, I think it comes down to the two riders who just duked it out for the MX2 World Championship: Kay de Wolf and Simon Langenfelder.
If you saw the final round in Australia, there is no love lost between these two. They went at it all year, but I think de Wolf is the favorite this weekend. So, I’ll go with him.
My sleeper pick is Sacha Coenen. If he keeps it on two-wheels, he could take the MX2 Class.
Who is most likely to win the Open class?
The contenders:
Hunter Lawrence (Australia)
RJ Hampshire (USA)
Calvin Vlaanderen (The Netherlands)
Maxime Renaux (Spain)
Andrea Bonacorsi (Italy)
Valentin Guillod (Switzerland)
Liam Everts (Belgium)
Jo Shimoda (Japan)
This class could be the difference between a win and second for the Australian and American squads. Hypothetically, let’s say Jett beats Eli and Justin Cooper beats Kyle Webster, then it could come down to Hunter Lawrence vs RJ Hampshire. And, man, this could be all-time.
I feel like RJ would run through a brick wall to bring home a title for the US on home soil. Dude bleeds red, white and blue, and we all know he will leave it all on the line. While Hunter has more experience on the 450, you just never know when it comes to this race.
And, yet, I think Hunter has the advantage.
