Things are heating up in the respective title chases in 450SX and the 250SX East Division. In this edition of “Most Likely” we dive deep into the title scenarios unfolding in 450SX. Who’s in the fight? Who’s fading? And who could play spoiler?

Who’s in the Chase
Cooper Webb | Monster Energy/Yamaha Star Racing | 300 pts
Chase Sexton | Red Bull KTM | 291 pts
The back and forth title fight between Webb and Sexton has reached a crescendo. Three rounds left and nine points separate the two. If Sexton wins out, he’s the champ. Webb is not in the same position, but must stop Sexton’s winning streak which sits at two.

Who’s Most Likely to Win the Title?
I’m sticking with Webb. I’ve been on the Webb Wagon much of the season and it won’t change despite Sexton being so hot right now. If Sexton were to win, I think he was to win out, which would put him at five straight wins. Very hard to do, especially with championship pressure mounting in the rear-view. This weekend will be pivotal, as Sexton (to me) holds the advantage once we move to the mountains in Denver and Salt Lake City. If Webb can pull out a victory on Saturday, the title is his.
Who’s Most Likely to Play Spoiler?
With Ken Roczen nursing injuries, the main players will be Webb and Sexton’s teammates. Justin Cooper and Aaron Plessinger have really come into their own and could play the spoiler role for their respective running mates. While I don’t see either doing anything to disrupt the title fight, this is racing with money and contacts and respect on the line. They won’t just move over. One other rider to watch for could be Malcolm Stewart. Don’t let that man get hot. We saw what can happen in Tampa earlier this year.

Who’s Most Likely to Win the Next Three Races?
Neither. I think Webb finds a way to pull off a win in Pittsburgh. He knows he can’t go back West with Sexton riding a three race win streak and only six points down. As mentioned above, this weekend is bigger than most people think.
