Marvin Musquin Nearing Extension with Red Bull KTM

Silly season news continues to leak out, with Marvin Musquin discussing his future with Red Bull KTM in the pre-race press conference earlier this week.

Musquin, who has spent his entire career in the U.S. with the team since coming over from the MXGP series full-time in 2011, is poised to remain with the team for at least another year.

In the press conference, he was asked if the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship would impact his talks with the team.

“Not at all, because we have already started talking about next year,” he said. “We are talking with Austria and KTM, so finalizing the last details for next year. So we are already talking about it, so the outdoor season doesn’t change anything.”

Musqin won the 250SX East Region title as a member of the Red Bull KTM 250 team and has finished runner-up in the 450 Pro Motocross Championship twice (2017 and 2018). Last year, Musquin finished fourth overall in the 450 Class championship.

After missing all of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season due to a knee injury, Musquin returned this year and finished ninth in points. He did have one victory (Salt Lake City 1) and four additional podiums.

Two-time Monster Energy Supercross Champion Cooper Webb will also return to the team in 2022, with Aaron Plessinger expected to join as well.
